I have always taken 75mg but after a month of taking 225mg i went up to 300mg and since two weeks ago i began slitting my wrists, i think this is a reaction to the high dosage. My doctor says that he never heard of this but i have read about it, does that make sense?

It helps for the self-destructive tendencies, but stopping it brings the symptoms back.... but comparted to 75 mg Efexor (now on 75 mg venlafaxine) alprazolam, paroxetine (always used to work for me but once i'd stopped taking it and then started again I developed a toxicological response to it (a kind of psoriasis...not 100% though because it only happened after I started taking paroxetine aga...

For me it seems like venlafaxine is a wonder drug. Tried to come off it once but unsuccessfully. I am a completely different person thanks to Venlafaxine. If I'd have had this fifty years ago I would have had a very different life.

I sweat the whole time that i am sleeping. I usually have to leave with a towel to dry myself off. I get sweaty every time i had to do anything physical and the sweating is only getting worse.

I use this in combination with quetiapine and the both help to give me a sense of calm over my warring emotions (guilt, feeling like I've failed, thinking that I have no feelings). Because I've been on holiday I haven't used venlafaxine for a week but I can't sleep without quetiapine. Venlafaxine simply gives me even more peace.

The first week was a disaster. Heavy sweating at night, palpitations, dizziness, nausea, dry mouth. After a few days these side effects disappeared. Now I feel it really takes the edge off my depression. I still have off days, but not as bad as they used to be. I haven’t gained any weight since the start. My libido was lower at the start, but it’s slowly coming back. I do tire more easily, but ...

Have used Venlafaxine for 18 years. I take 75 mg twice a day and have had no heavy depressions. Before I started using Venlafaxine I had 3 depressions, the first was Post Natal. I have to say Venlafaxine has saved my life.

I didn't like using venlafaxine, or rather to me it was a disaster. My former psychiatrist prescribed it and when it didn't work I wasn't allowed to stop. I had a lot of side effects. Fatigue, nausea, weight gain, not being able to think clearly, dizziness, loss of appetite (although its possible this was caused by the reason I had to take the medicine in the first place), headache, apathy. An...

Hi everyone. Just a week ago I started on 37.5 mg Venlafaxine for a depressive mood. The effect to now: I feel a bit odd in my head and sweaty. That's the worst up to now. I am really worried about putting on weight and losing my libido. Up to now I haven't had these problems. Next week I've got to go up to 75 mg... I'd be grateful to hear your experiences. Thx B

Tried all kinds of medicines for my depression. Started on 75 mg of venlafaxine but that didn't do much so I increased up to 150 but then I felt awful. went to the GP and I was advised to go back down to 75 and now I've been tapering off my dose for 2 weeks on 37.5 and now I've stopped. just got really bad problems with withdrawal symptoms, a feel really lightheaded, like I'm not quite with it ...

In '92 I was admitted to hospital with severe depression, discharged after treatment then admitted to a therapeutic clinic and after that re-admitted to hospital with severe depression again. Since then I have been taking Venlafaxine and have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I also take camcolit, lamotrigine and loramet

This really helped me for the first few years, but the longer I used it my depressive tendencies started to come back, so I had to always increase the dose until I was on 300 mg and still depressed. It was so bad that I struggled to get through each day and was having destructive thoughts. That's why I switched to another medicine which did help me and that I'm now quite happy taking.

It was established that I had neglected depression and I am being treated by a psychiatrist. I started with 37.5 mg of venlafaxine once a day, which was increased after two weeks to the most recent dose of 112.5 mg. I really quickly noticed that I didn't get the sensation of being able to ejaculate during sex, it became more difficult to urinate and most recently I've really suffered with dizzi...

I've been using venlafaxine for a number of years. Sometimes I ask myself if the medicine is working, my energy has plummeted downwards. I was advised to exercise but still no improvement. I have really good days but also days when I just lie in bed and I've noticed that when I climax I'm really tired afterwards and have no energy. I've not had a problem with this before, do many people have ex...

Hello, yesterday my neurologist prescribed venlafaxine retard for me. I'm not depressed but I've serious migraines for years. I have tried so many different kinds of medicines to little avail (depakine, botulin injections, topamax,...). Has anyone else used venlafaxine for migraines? Thanks in advance!

it certainly make sure that you don't feel as much. both happy times and bad times just become "nothing" moments. Personally I've always been really kind and friendly and have never been mean to anybody. since I started taking venla this is not the case.

Of all the antidepressants venlafaxine suits me the best, used it for years, initially at a high dose, 225 mg, but that numbed all of my feelings/emotions, now reduced down to a dose of 37.5 mg for the past four years and that works brilliantly, been less depressed over the years and this seems to be my maintenance dose, if I stop taking it, my feelings and emotions come back to the fore and yo...

after starting with 20 mg of paroxetine 15 years ago I noticed after a while that it wasn't effective any more, after visiting psychiatrist I was prescribed venlafaxine, initially 150 mg and after a year 225 mg, this has worked well up to now, as far as I'm concerned, despite the known side-effects of antidepressants, I combine the venlafaxine with tranxene 10 mg 3x a day.

Venlafaxine has brought me back to normal. I was really low and still not completely better. Every day is a struggle with yourself to survive. But I am that much better than I can now find pleasure in the little things. I hope that things carry on like this. I have got a really bad side effect from this medicine though. I sweat a lot. I hope that this will pass though.

Got stuck in my work. Went to psychiatrist via the GP. First check what medicines were suitable. I smoked. But I wanted to stop. Did it with effexor (150 mg). And mirtazepine (15 mg) before I went to sleep. I could handle things better then and felt more stable. I don't see the psychiatrist any more. He advised me to take this medicine for the rest of my life.

Had 37.5 to start off with but I was really dejected and hardly made it through the day. Now I am taking 2 x 75 a day and I feel a bit better, and like a new person. The worst things are the nasty taste in my mouth as well as it being dry. First off it was okay but then I was given a different brand and I am suffering more with a dry mouth and bad taste.

Really happy. Side effect was a dry mouth. Over the past few years I have started sweating more, but I have no idea if this is actually to do with the onset of the menopause. I was really worried about the worsening of the symptoms when I switched from anafranil to this medicine but it wasn't that bad and was easily controlled with temporary calming tablets. I have stopped venlafaxine twice bec...

I have been taking antidepressants since I was 25 (I'm now 47). SSRIs. The last couple of years it's been Venlafaxine. I get the impression that although the dose is now pretty high the depression hasn't got any less, in fact it has even got worse. Of course I don't just take these pills, I exercise regularly too and recently went (back) to a psychologist. Perhaps it's just that the medicine is...
