I experienced horrible side effects from only 26 days this drug! Awful stuff! On day one I developed involuntary foot movements during rest/going to sleep, mental confusion, muscle cramps, and muscle twitching. It was so bad I had to be tested for ALS/MND!!! Despite being off it 3 months now, the symptoms have improved but have not disappeared entirely. I worry I will be forever damaged by this...

I've been taking this medicine since I had a heart attack in 2010. It seems to be working according to the cardiologist. And nothing else to say on the matter.

Over a period of half a year tried various different statins, but they all had the same effect; bad joint pain and bad muscle pain. Joint pain was so bad it was like I had gout.

I started on 20mg and the experience was reasonable. Mild tiredness in my muscles. On 40mg the muscle pains got a lot worse, so much so that I couldn't exercise any more because my muscles couldn't manage. Until then I was usually exercising twice a week. A big disappointment and I got the impression that no one was actually listening to what I was saying.

Even in small doses simvastatin is poisonous for me! Started on 40 mg on the doctor's advice. After a few weeks: muscle pain in strange places: feet, shoulders, mostly neck pain. By the evenings I couldn't turn or raise my head, paired with bad pain. So I stopped this medicine. Bought 10 mg simvastatin later when I was abroad and tried that out. 10 mg is 'only 25% of 40mg so I shouldn't have an...

I'm taking this medicine because of osteoarthritis and heart cramps. No abnormalities were found in the heart, but the specialist recommended using preventive Simvastatin. From the first day i still haven't seen any side effects. taking a single tablet with food is enough.

Switched from crestor to simvastatin because of the cost. Was on it for 4 months but I stopped two weeks ago to see if the side effects disappeared: Pain in my upper thighs, difficulty walking, legs feel weak. So, yep, on to the next medicine!

the longer this goes on the more and more symptoms I'm developing. Cramps in my hands, feet and calves, muscle pain in my arms and legs and hip, difficulty getting to sleep, heartburn after taking the simvastatin. Libido has disappeared out the window, bruising under my skin when I bump into anything. poor concentration, drastic reduction in my strength. I stopped 8 weeks ago and the physical s...

I've been using simvastatin for 2 years now and for about a year I've been suffering with muscle pains in my legs. I didn't associate this with my use of this medicine until my GP put me up to 80 mg because of cholesterol, which wasn't getting better. I took simvastatin 80 mg for a week and could hardly walk any more because of the muscle pains in my legs. Then my neck, shoulders and lower back...

No side effects from the Simavastatine, but my cholesterol was still too high. Ezetrol was added to lower the cholesterol even more, is now 8.4.

Narrowing of the coronary arteries due to cholesterol, after having 3 stents inserted, I have to take this according to the heart specialist! Don't know if I've had any side effects.....taken several different medicines since having the stents! I feel more or less fine! I don't if I would feel better or worse without them!

Dear one and all, my experience with simvastatin is terrible. When I saw my doctor, I had a programme about it fresh in my head. My cholesterol was also high, not really high but still. Got medicines straight away and all their effects. Weakening of my muscles and all the negative consequences. I'm never taking simvastatin again!

Prescribed because of too-high cholesterol (8.0); took once before I went to bed. Following day noticed that I wasn't "with it" in the morning; after midday I was a wreck: muscle pain everywhere, high fever, headache, nausea, muscle weakness. My daytime temperature of 34 also didn't help much. Stopped taking it straight away; today calling the doctor for an alternative because this just won't do.

my husband got this for a small blockage in his coronary artery. which I think makes it very easy to deal with. It was discovered because he had a tia, but the side effects that he has are cramp in his legs, crooked fingers, not nice for him. I use Crestor, no side effects. that also reduces cholesterol.

I have taken this medicine quite happily for 9 years. Gradually started getting pain in my legs and over time the problem has got worse. It started with restless legs but now I can't hardly walk any more. I didn't make the link to Simvastatine. It was only when I saw a TV programme that I realised Simvastatine could be to blame. I stopped taking it straight away and after a week and a half I wa...

Because I'm suspected of having angina pectoris (I am supposed to be having the tests next week), I've been prescribed this medicine in advance and from day one I've been really nauseous and often dizzy and light-headed. I just don't feel quite right. And I've only been taking them for 2 weeks… But the doctor says I'm not allowed to stop taking them.

Started off with rigid fingers and then muscle pain in my legs that was so bad I could hardly walk any more, stopped taking it 3 days ago and the muscle pain in my legs is near enough gone so that I can walk well again. Investigated for muscle degradation but nothing was detected. Next week back to the GP...

Really bad pain and stiffness in my shoulder, arms, side, hips, leg, foot - mostly on the left but sometimes on my right-hand side. After about 5 weeks taking 40 mg a day (on account of a minor brain haemorrhage without any kind of attack) now almost 2 weeks ago stopped in agreement with GP and stroke clinic. suffering with pain and impediments arose on the 2nd day of taking, recently also reac...

Took a tablet in the evening at 11 PM, I woke around 1 AM and felt sick so I ran to the toilet and was vomiting until 2:30 PM, over and over again until at 2:30 I was able to lie back in bed, I read that you are supposed to go to the hospital and that this can be fatal. I think this is rubbish and will be staying away from it.

Medicine prescribed by GP because of high cholesterol. Side effects were really bad. Severe rheumatic pains. Exhaustion. Muscle cramps, mostly in my legs and neck. Really horrible. Stopped taking it now. After I stopped, it took 3-4 weeks until the last of the side effects had gone.

My cholesterol has always been excellent, bi-annual review with a specialist. In Feb. 2015 it looked like I'd had a heart attack. to me it just felt like acid reflux. The cardiologist said that the ecg was in a grey area but that he would still say it was a heart attack. Never had any medication and all of a sudden was on 7! No further explanation. I can't understand it. I am now a patient at a...

I have to take this for hereditary high cholesterol. I have also had 80 mg of simvastatin. That considerably reduced my cholesterol level in my blood. Lots of serious side effects. Tried it several times and each time I've had to stop taking it and use other statins, but getting more and more sensitive to them. It has probably affected my muscles more because of the combination of rheumatism an...

Are there also natural medicines I can take in the place of this chemical rubbish? Loads of awful side effects. They lead to other problems which you then have to to fight with other pills. I have managed to assemble quite a collection of tablets and hardly ever run out of medicine. In fact I haven't even begun to
