Experiences with Crestor

At firts I used the regular statins and after three different ones, now I use Crestor. I am using this now for three weeks and my old complaints are coming back. Sore muscles, itching and insomnia.

I've been taking statins since my 20s for really high cholesterol, above 10. I'm not overweight, run 3 x a week and walk a lot. I first started on Zocor and I'm now on Crestor. Because I felt like I was having really bad side effects with sim/atorvastatin, I was moved on to Crestor (rosuvastatin) by my cardiologist. I started on 20/4. On holiday I was up to 24/4 when I developed severe muscle pain but I couldn't reach my doctor. I carried on taking them regardless and didn't have any further problems. After experiencing muscle pains from taking simvastatin and atorvastatin, the cardiologist prescribed me crestor. Prescribed on 20 April and by 24 April I'm experiencing severe muscle pain in my left hand. I don't know what to do and I don't really want to hassle the cardiologist (again). BTW, I've had 2x heart attacks and 6x stents which is why I need cholesterol-lowering medicine.

Started with simvastatins lots of pain, then fluvastetine did nothing. Been on crestor for 13 days now and haven't been able to use my arm for a week and a half, been to the eye doctor got cataracts starting and all because of these medicines that are supposed to make you better??

After having symptoms of chest spasms and an irregular heartbeat, I was referred to a cardiologist. An ECG confirmed that I have angina pectoris. Straight on to blood thinners, beta blockers and cholesterol-lowering medicines like Cresto. To now few or no further symptoms. Every year check-up with the cardiologist. just great.

I got type 2 diabetes in 2001. In 2010 I had to start injecting insulin. Despite having a high dose it was really difficult to get my blood sugar levels under control. To start off with, my specialist prescribed me 5 mg Crestor once a day. Following the side effects that appeared, that was reduced to 1 x 5 mg tablet every other day. My blood level has stayed the same but the pain has become bearable.

In 2007 I had a cardiac arrest and went into a coma. To start off with I took Lipitor then, with a transition period, Crestor (first 10 mg, then 20 mg). No problems during the transition. Everything was fine. Always had brilliant cholesterol.

The specialist wants to give me 40 mg but the GP says 10 mg is enough. Had a blood test and the GP is right. Because of the side-effects and the breakdown of vitamin B12 and severe deficiency of vitamin D as well as the effect it has on my immune system I'm going to reduce it or stop it altogether.

This medicine has considerably reduced my cholesterol values. Side-effects: pain in my legs, the condition is getting worse and is restricting my walking. I know many others who also take this medicine and have the same problems, and they have ended up, one by one, in wheelchairs.

This morning I couldn't walk up the stairs. Unbelievable muscle pain. I do have fibromyalgia and this exacerbates the problem a lot. At the beginning I had no problems but it's been getting worse for the past 2 weeks. LDL has fallen really low so it does work but the side-effects, for me, make it almost unbearable at the moment. I have a mild form of arthrosis that normally doesn't cause me any problems. It only when it's cold that the symptoms are worse, partially because of the statins.

Muscle pain in my legs and hips. With every new pack I get new and different muscle pain. Don't sleep much at night because of muscle pain and leg cramps. Stopped by the GP after three years. Can't believe that I was prescribed this medication.

I had really bad problems, mostly pain in my lower back, shoulder and arms. About 14 days ago stopped taking crestor and after a few days the pain had about tripled as well as moved to my hands. It's now a constant pain. Could well be withdrawal symptoms Anyone recognise this?

The overnight pain I have in my muscles is almost to plan. This is because there are very few nights which are pain-free. When it does hurt overnight and need to get up to go to the bathroom, the pain disappears spontaneously. Soon after getting back into bed, the pain usually comes back.

After a few weeks I started to get muscle pain and then after a few months I got depressed. Once I stopped taking this pill I was free of any complaints in less than a week.
