I've been on citalopram for more than 12 years, I dropped to a 10mg after having my child. Now due to anxiety my doctor put me up to a 20mg and I'm nearly 2 weeks in to taken them and my anxiety is through the roof... my mornings are the worst and I'm finding it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel as it is so intense. I've never had side effects from upping my medication and I think ...

Took just one of these 20mg tablets, took at 9:30pm woke at 01:30 am in an absolute state of panic, (had gone to bed feeling very calm) started hyperventilating, shaking, felt like I had been given a massive dot of adrenaline, made me feel very tearful, did not get back to sleep, left me feeling anxious, tight jaw muscles. Everyone is different and responds differently, but I will definitely no...

Used this drug for anxiety and depression. First 2 weeks were about getting through it and finding lots of distractions. Took Oxazepam as well. After these 2 weeks it worked well. It was easier to relativise and I was calmer. Fell pregnant at the beginning of this year so stopped in March. I was able to stop in 1 go. Had a few days of side effects, dizziness and mood swings. But these were fine...

I am really happy with this medicine. It works really well and the side effects (headache and mood swings) only at the beginning, or if I forget to take it.

I was prescribed this medicine for a burn out that was caused by depression. In the beginning I was on 10 mg, it worked well and dampened my thoughts. In the 3rd week I increased to 20 mg.. In the first 2 weeks I had quite a lot of problems with my stomach and bowels and then after the 3rd week when I increased to 20 really bad problems with inexplicable bruising, not being able to cope with da...

The only thing that this medicine does is interrupt your continuous spiral of negative thoughts, which you get with depression and 20 years of PTSD, it doesn't stop them. But that's all, doesn't make you happier or more active. The bad thoughts came back after about 2 months. Wouldn't recommend this one.

I've been using citalopram for about 2 years, on the same dose of 20 mg per day. Came off it over the course of 2 weeks in 5 mg steps. Within those 2 weeks I noticed a difference (reduction of depression, reduction of irritability) and a few brief side effects like nausea, dizziness and headache. The effect is still noticeable. Few irritating (mild) side effects like weight gain and occasional ...

The GP prescribed me Citalopram on the advice of my psychologist. From 10, then 20 and now 40 mg. I was supposed to feel more energised. But after using it for almost 2 years I still hadn't got any more energy and I decided to stop taking it by going down to one every other day. After 2 weeks I had totally stopped. I didn't notice a single physical difference, no side effects. I took my supply ...

I've had such horrendous nightmares that I daren't even sleep any more. Truly the most strange, psychotic and surrealist things. When I was asleep I often hit my partner and tossed and turned the whole night through. Every day I woke up soaked in sweat. Using this has traumatised me. I'm afraid of my own dreams.

I use this medicine for my anxiety and panic disorder, which has troubled me since 2002. Without medication I start to avoid many daily activities, so it gives me the support I need.

The psychiatrist prescribed this medicine for me. Still not really sure why? I was against it right from the start. In principle I don't have a depressive disposition, but I've always been given to introspection. Does that mean you should take medicine though? While I was using this medicine I felt about 20% of my usual 100%. It didn't have any positive effect on me at all. I'm coming off this ...

Because I am incredibly self-conscious when I'm dealing with others, I blush really easily. When I started taking citalopram it got a lot worse. At that point I also had a second job in catering but after a few weeks of walking around embarrassed with a face like a beetroot I had to quit it and switched to another antidepressant.

Hey, I've been back to the GP today because of my anxiety and hyperventilation despite the citalopram... Still anxious and can't sleep.. Need to stop and try something different. So hopefully these will work. What you're saying could also be menopause. I was tested and apparently it was... And I was young too. Good luck.

I've been taking citalopram since 15 March. I started on 10 mg but pretty quickly had to go up to 30 mg. I got loads of horrid side effects. My panic attacks seemed to just get worse and I started getting suicidal thoughts. So the doctor reduced my dose a bit to 25 mg. It seemed to get a bit better then but I'm starting to have suicidal thoughts and panic attacks again. I wonder if anyone else ...

After taking seroxat for 24 years, I came off it too quickly. Now I'm on 10 mg seroxat and 10 mg citalopram. Has anyone else got experience of this combination of medicines? According to the GP it might be because of this. I'd like to come off the seroxat completely first, but that's pretty hard to do. The citalopram is working pretty well. I'm not quite there yet. Perhaps that's because I need...

Hey, here's my experience. I talked to my GP about the side effects but I have to wait until I've been on them for 8 weeks because it takes a while for your body to get used to them and to see if 10 mg is enough. I've also noticed that I am nauseous and upset just like you in the mornings but come the end of the day I am slightly better. So I hope I soon start to feel an improvement. I'm curren...

I posted something before about using citalopram.... Could anyone please tell me when it will start doing what it's supposed to and if there are others out there who are still nauseous after 5 weeks and have no appetite and can't sleep.. It makes no difference if I take it in the morning or the evening.. I'm on 10 mg with 10 mg oxapam as support.

Hey.. I've just started on 10 mg. Well, 4 and a half weeks ago. Luckily I haven't had any attacks since the second weed but I'm still dizzy and nauseous all day long.. Towards the evening it tends to get a bit better but I often wake up overnight and feel crappy... My appetite hasn't come back either.. I really hope I will start to feel better soon because this is really not fun I'm tired all d...

I've been on 10 mg citalopram for 4 weeks. For panic attacks. As far as they go this does help but I'm dizzy all day long, nauseous and tired and have absolutely no appetite... Anyone else experienced this?

Works well for aggressiveness, calming irritability and anxieties! Actually works on your metabolism and makes you a bit sleepy and you can say goodbye to your libido! In principle i'm against medicine but within our family this is a practical necessity unfortunately.

Hello. I've been using this quite easily for a long time now. But because I want to have a baby, the GP has advised I need to start coming off it. Was on 30 mg, now on 15 mg. I am also taking 100 mg trazodone. Coming off the citalopram is really quite hard. I'm half way through so I need to carry on. Starting to get anxious again, quickly irritated, virtually no libido, tired, lifeless, irritat...

6 years ago I started taking citalopram and then about one year ago stopped. Now things aren't great with me again and I have just started taking this again. I started on 5 mg. But I can't remember how it was when I started taking this the last time. So now I'm curious to see if the side effects on 5 mg should be so bad? Advice anyone?

Before I started on this medicine, I couldn't leave my house. If I even put one foot outside I went into a complete panic. I've been using this now for 7 weeks and my panic attacks are pretty much gone. I can think rationally about my anxieties and the therapy is much more effective. During the first week I had a lot of side effects (dizziness, shivers, no appetite, headache), but now hardly an...
