Been taking this drug for about 19 years now for heartburn and poorly closing stomach valve. it works well for me...don't have any symptoms once I've taken it.

I've finally figured out that some of these symptoms are caused by the medicine itself. Tinnitus, rash/itch 3 x a year, really painful mouth. I'd actually like to stop straight away and switch to a homeopathic remedy. Has anyone else got any experience of stopping quickly? Or coming off it slowly? Either way I definitely want to stop taking this. Are there risks with stopping suddenly? I've got...

After first being given a milder medicine for stomach problems, the GP prescribed me 40 mg omeprazole. It seems to work well so I got a repeat prescription from the pharmacist and I was given Omecat. After a few days the symptoms all came back and I went back to the pharmacist. I asked and apparently this is what I was entitled to have on my insurance. I decided to pay for omeprazole myself bec...

It works pretty well but sometimes it's difficult to take (the capsule). Pantoprazole is easy to swallow and works better for me.

I was prescribed omeprazole because of the problems sertraline was giving me. After reading that long-term use isn't good, because, for example, it inhibits B-vitamin uptake, I stopped. I started taking natural supplements for my heartburn and they are just as effective, if not even more so. I've had a good result with 1 x bitter melon, 2 x aloe vera.

helps for rising heartburn, because of an infection on my pancreas I had a cyst that pressed against my stomach which made my stomach smaller. A specialist has now 'drained' the cyst and so I have fewer problems with it. I'd really like to stop/reduce my omeprazole. Going from 1 a day to 1 every 2 days. Curious to see how it goes.

Chronic heartburn. GP quite easily prescribed omeprazole, no other tests. On 1 Jan 2014 I was given broad spectrum antibiotics for a sinus infection. I've had all manner of problems since then. Have frequent tests for acid reflux etc.

Been taking this drug for about 17 years now for heartburn which has given me an additional infection in my oesophagus and a poorly-functioning stomach valve. Drug does what it's supposed to do, you have to accept the side effects for what they are .weight gain.occasional headaches and reduced vitamin B12 levels in your blood. It's worth checking out your kidney function every now and then, too.

20 mg is great, no side effects. Been on 40 mg since Monday and I feel strange, unpleasant, dizzy, headache in my forehead and generally not fit and listless. Going to call the clinic tomorrow because this doesn't feel good. Didn't expect this from this medicine.

I've been taking omeprazole daily for 5 years now on the advice of the gastroenterologist (my valve is dysfunctional). Very effective medicine without any side effects. It's pretty horrid to have to go through life with acid reflux. .Rennies etc. didn't help. For me this is the only thing that works.

Been taking omeprazole for about six months. One 20 mg capsule every other day. Previously I was taking a Gaviscon tablet pretty much every day. Reflux completely gone. Haven't noticed any side effects yet. Apart from a bit of weight gain. But that's more than likely not because of the medicine but because it's more pleasurable for me to eat. Before I used to avoid all sweet stuff because it gu...

Certainly helps for reflux! But after a few weeks got gigantic headache, stopped for 2 weeks and it went away. Started again and a few days later headache was back and there was also an odd pressing feeling in my forehead, like my BP was too high, that and a red face
