I had it to prevent malaria during the holidays. I took it during a meal once a day, very easy. No side effects at all and very well protected. Going to use it again this year.

It is preventive. It’s easy to take abroad. I take it in the morning during breakfast with a glass of milk. I do get diarrhoea but not that bad. And I have very strange dreams. Now back home and still 7 days to go. Here I’m more bothered by dizziness, strange colored stools. Just 3 more days.

Two side effects mentioned in the instructions: diarrhea and coughing. The side effects kept on during the last week back home and only disappeared after ending the cure, so they were definitely caused by the cure.

Haven't noticed a single side effect. I took them for the first time this year, for 19 days during my holiday in Africa, but didn't have any side effects. I thought that was particularly interesting, especially given all the horror stories but I was worried about nothing.

Taken this for 8 holidays in a row; never had any problems or side effects. Nor has my girlfriend. I often ask myself if the horror stories to be found on here are actually down to these pills. More likely that it's the food and water (ice cubes) abroad that have something to do with it? and the heat and the sudden change in pressure after a holiday? and I could go on.

Within a couple of days I had lost half of my long hair :-( As well as that, bowel problems but I could cope with them. No idea what's going to happen after I've stopped taking these pills.

We are allowed to stop taking these pill...

Had all of the side-effects mentioned in the patient information leaflet. Would definitely not recommend!!! And I also had to cover myself in DEET, but this medicine ruined my holiday.

After taking the malaria tablets Atovaquon, my hands really started to hurt. They went red and some kind of blisters started appearing. Both my legs were covered in bumps. My stomach began to swell and I looked like I was 6 months pregnant. I'm never taking these again!
