Paracodol

paracetamol, codeine phosphate (500/10mg) for migraine

Paracetamol doesn't help at all, even if I take 10 tablets a day with codeine. I've had this for 42 years. It's horrendous and hereditary. My mum had it much worse, though, she would be vomiting in bed for 4 days. Luckily I'm not sick. But now I've been taking sumatriptan, alternating with zolmitriptan, and it's now manageable. But still 3 times a week and then 3 tablets a day each day.

Sumatriptan

sumatriptan succinate (100mg) for migraine

This helps really well. If you take it when the pain starts. Don't wait till it's really bad. As soon as you notice it, take one and go and lie down and sleep for 3 hours and then it's usually gone. The tablets that dissolve on your tongue are so helpful, less dizziness and nausea.

Sumatriptan

sumatriptan succinate (50mg) for migraine

Because I've had such bad trouble with migraines for several years but only now just gone to the GP about it. She prescribed this for me. When I feel a migraine coming on I take a tablet. After an hour I fall asleep and wake up again about an hour and a half later. Afterwards I feel quite confused and I struggle to make sense. Luckily it works really well for the migraine and I'll take these si...

Metoprolol Tartrate

metoprolol tartrate (100mg) for migraine

I was given 15 x 50 mg of these from an unknown-to-me brand for my regular migraines. One day I took one as I felt a migraine coming on. Result: Briefly unwell then 8 hours after taking it I fainted because of my extremely low BP. I had three layers of clothes on while others were parading about in bikinis, I was somewhere else entirely! I've still got 14 of these left but I never want to take ...

Maxalt

rizatriptan benzoate (5mg) for migraine

To start off with, Maxalt worked well but as time went on it stopped doing its job. Well, the side effects still appeared but didn't do anything for the pain.

Zolmitriptan

zolmitriptan (2,5mg) for migraine

Despite these pretty horrendous side effects, this is the migraine medicine for me. The headache disappears pretty quickly and while I feel physically lousy afterwards it's still better than the nightmarish migraine pain.

Sanomigran

pizotifen hydrogen malate (1,5mg) for migraine

I went to the GP during a migraine attack and he prescribed me Sandomigran! The first 6 weeks it barely made a difference but then after that I could take more and I was sleeping better. Few attacks overnight and during the day only if there's a thunderstorm. I am so happy!

Metoprolol Tartrate

09/05/2017 | | 43moderated by Charlotte
metoprolol tartrate (12,5mg) for migraine

Since I started taking this I've had little, if any, migraine attacks. There is some mild fatigue and dizziness but nothing extreme. I put a lot of stock in this.

Indometacin

indometacin (50mg) for migraine

I've suffered with migraines for 40 years and over the last few years, tension headaches have been added into the mix as well. I've tried all sorts of prophylaxes and had to give up on all of them because of the huge number of side effects. Luckily I have the imigran injections which are really helpful. 4 years ago I had to stop taking all medicines because I was using too many triptans. Becaus...

Almogran

22/07/2016 | | 20moderated by Susan
almotriptan d, l-hydrogen malate (12,5mg) for migraine

Prescribed by a neurologist. In the beginning I was really sleepy and my reaction times were a lot slower for several hours after taking it but this didn't really matter because it took away virtually all of the headache. After a few years of taking it it still works just as well for the migraine headaches and I basically have no side effects any more.

Imigran

22/06/2016 | | 52moderated by Philip
sumatriptan (ml 0,5) for migraine

I injected Imigran for a good 20 years and as far as I'm concerned it was a wonder drug. The harried feeling and sweating just after the injection were prices I was prepared to pay because it sent me into a really deep sleep and when I wake up I was as good as new. It also stopped me from vomiting. However, over the past few years it's been getting more frequent that the pen doesn't work and la...

Sanomigran

pizotifen hydrogen malate (1,5mg) for migraine

Works really well. The number and the length attacks are reducing. But I have notice some weight gain and tiredness. Advised to take the medication in the evening. I usually take it around 7 p.m.

Imigran

26/01/2016 | | 48moderated by Philip
sumatriptan (12mg/ml) for migraine

When I started using Imigran I felt quite oppressed, but that quickly disappeared. I literally felt the medicine travelling through my body and an upset stomach (I would vomit for days and nights, going crazy with the headaches) usually disappeared in half an hour. Superdrug and the first years no side-effects

Sanomigran

16/01/2016 | | 52moderated by Susan
pizotifen hydrogen malate (0,5mg) for migraine

Taken sandomigran daily for nearly 20 years. This medicine isn't made any more and there are no other products that contain this drug, nor can the pharmacist prepare it. Normally you'd have to to taper off these tablets but that can't happen. Shame!
