For years I have taken at atenolol with complete satisfaction and all of a sudden it stopped working. So then I was looking for an alternative. 1st of all tried lisinopril but that made me depressed. After taking that for 2 months, I tried metoprolol succinate retard. It gave me really bad headaches, was really tired and slept loads. It also changed my sense of taste. To start off with it did actually lower my blood pressure, but after around about a week it was too high once again. After consultation with the specialist after 6 days I was given doxazosin as well, which just made the symptoms even worse. Carrying on was not an option.
