Always had problems sleeping but they were usually manageable. After starting metformin my general tiredness slowly got worse and worse. So much so that one day I had to take two days off because I just couldn't function any more. After researching on the Internet found out that metformin is often (increasingly so) prescribed for insomnia. So I decided to stop taking metformin. After three days I was more energetic and less tired. Felt almost hyperactive. Resting heart rate of 80 back down to 69. Walking speed (walk lots between work, train and home, 8-9 km a day) from 4.2 km/hour to 5.5 km/hour so physically much more energised.
