After having had a copper coil for years I switched to the Mirena coil. Right from the start it was great and I felt excellent. I'm now 54 and I've still got a coil. This is my 4th Mirena. My GP said that you experience fewer menopause symptoms and I think that he's right as I haven't got any :-) but according to my blood tests I am definitely going through the menopause. When the GP put it in it was easy, when the gynaecologist did it, it was hell. So it depends on the doctor doing it.
