Because of a massive pulmonary embolism in 2015, I ended up on acenocumarol for 6 months, after which I stopped on the advice of a specialist. In September 2016 I was diagnosed with another massive pulmonary embolism and put on Xarelto. what a relief that you don't have to do a blood test every time you visit the thrombosis clinic to check the INR values. Few if any side effects, just the cold prick on the end of your finger on the first visit for a blood test. Which makes me wonder why they have to check your blood for coagulation levels because you can't do that if your blood is too thin.
