First of all given the rebound effect of methylphenidate (Ritalin) the switch to Amfexa seemed to be a sensible one. Medicine isn't as strong. Rebound effects are less and mood is more stable. Now switching to long-acting dexamphetamine. Less frequent medication and less likely to forget to take it which means lower chance of negative side effects. I used Ritaline for years 12x10mg, dosed 3x40 mg. I went back and forth, took 45 minutes to take the medicine, lasted about 2.5 hours. very difficult to plan. I don't have this problem with Dexamfetamine, it works for about ten hours.
