Metformin (1000mg) for diabetes type 2

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be another alterative for type 2 diabetes. I'm insulin-resistant. So alongside lifestyle changes (eating healthy, staying active, not smoking and drinking) there isn't another medicine.

Been using metformin for 2 weeks. Still in the establishing phase. Sugar levels lowering. Few side effects. Happy up to now with this.

Metformin (500mg) for diabetes type 2

For me, metformin seems to be hardly, if at all, effective, if not worse: I got non-stop stomach pain from using it so I stopped taking it. The stomach pains disappeared immediately.

Metformin (850mg) for diabetes type 2

It's a lot of flatulence that I can't contain and so hard uitfloept, whether I'm on a visit or in a shop. My social contacts and messages are on a very low burner. Have them swallowed first 3 times daily. Swallow it now 1 x day at night before going to bed. Now goes slightly better. I experience a lot of difference between the different vendors. And then I get a different supplier every 3 months.

Metformin (500mg) for diabetes type 2

It's effective. My values have returned below the maximum threshold in a few months by taking 3 tablets a day and astonishment of my doctor who did not believe it... I preferred to take 2 tablets a day to have a more normal life which made the rate slightly higher. The treatment is quite difficult except for those who have a life of Monk... and other Epicurean. (Little alcohol in my case and im...

Metformin (500mg) for diabetes type 2

I've had type 2 diabetes for a few years. I get 2 metformin tablets a day. Little effect. No weight loss, blood sugars haven't reduced. But I have got a bit of a problem with uncontrollable diarrhoea, lots of trapped wind. The drug was a lot worse than the illness. I've now stopped. On or off metformin blood sugars are at 7 +.

Metformin (500mg) for diabetes type 2

Makes me ill. Heavy diarrhoea, stomach ache, nausea and fatigue. Have used Metformine since september 2nd 2016 and had to stop taking it this last week due to the seriousness of the side effects.

Metformin (500mg) for diabetes type 2

Recognised side effects. The diarrhoea should resolve itself. Almost 6 years going back and forth to the GP until he finally sent me elsewhere. Then it was another year until the GP actually took me seriously. The internist established an over-sensitivity to metformine and prescribed me something else. Headache and rash, I felt terrible. Back on to metformine, severe diarrhoea and really misera...

Metformin (850 mg) for diabetes type 2

I've been taking metformine for around 2 years now and had many side effects. Periods of being tired and sleepy, but above all stomach and bowel problems. And really bad dry mouth overnight with searing sore throat. I've just had a blood test done to see what else it might be. Results next week. So I have to wait and hopefully I'll be able to stop taking this.

Metformin (500mg) for diabetes type 2

Halfway through June 2016 I started taking 1 Metformine 500 mg tablet per day because my blood sugar level was 7.2. One month later I had a blood test for glucose levels and it had reduced to 6.6. GP then prescribed 2 x 500 mg per day. Then I got stomach pains, mild to begin with but gradually worsening. His answer was that I just had to get used to it! At the insistence of my office I had cal...

Metformin (850mg) for diabetes type 2

Always had problems sleeping but they were usually manageable. After starting metformin my general tiredness slowly got worse and worse. So much so that one day I had to take two days off because I just couldn't function any more. After researching on the Internet found out that metformin is often (increasingly so) prescribed for insomnia. So I decided to stop taking metformin. After three days...

don't actually have a problem with the higher glucose levels, but dry mouth when I sleep, I don't know how long the side effects will last, lots of difficulty walking, left leg calf particularly after walking a couple hundred metres, also getting marginally less sensitive, after half an hour walking then sitting it gets less then I can carry on walking.

Metformin (500mg) for diabetes type 2

Haven't been taking metformin tablets for very long, but I am nauseous all day long and have diarrhoea. The continuous nausea means I am not sleeping very well. I take the tablet with or after my breakfast and evening meal because that's supposed to reduce the chance of side effects, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Metformin (1000mg) for diabetes type 2

I've been taking this for about 6 years now. I take 1000 mg 2 x a day. At the beginning I had a bot of a problem with diarrhoea - for the first 2 weeks - but none since. My levels are now almost always okay. Happy with Metformine.

Metformin (500mg) for diabetes type 2

Made to switch to another manufacturer of this medicine because the pharmacist had signed a new contract with the supplier under pressure from the insurers to use the cheapest medicines. Taking Metformine Hcz Sandoz 500 mg makes me feel bloated and often gives me diarrhoea. The Metformine tablets Hci 500 mg from Apothecon didn't have this effect on me but I can't get this from my pharmacist any...
